The real story is Sharon fired him cause he was stealing too much of the spotlight from Ozzy.

I'm gonna say that was nothing more than just a tragic accident as neither Ozzy nor Sharon had that much power at the time.
It IS kinda curious though that Jake hasn't been seen or heard from in years.
